Welcome to Crystal Orb Publishing

Crystal Orb Publishing is the home for ebooks creating a new genre, Senior Fiction. The stories harken back to memories of the people we call senior citizens. We figured young people have young adult (YA) fiction, why not one for the other end of the spectrum. And that said, many of the stories will be fun for younger readers because the main character, the narrator, of the tales is our best bud, Ella. Ella's Stories for Old Folks are fun adventures that just might have a life lesson tucked away in there somewhere, but you'll be having too much fun to really notice.

Take a look around. We have ebooks for all devices. For more information about formats, please visit About eBooks.

Lunch Pail Tales & Brown Bag Books

Start a fresh story with your sandwich, finish it with your cookie. All done. A quick fun read from a couple of pages with the Lunch Pail Tales to a novelette with a Brown Bag Book. These aren't necessarily Senior Fiction and most lend themselves to a laugh or a shiver. Visit the Books section to see what's on the menu. Click for more . . .

Stories for Old Folks

What is Senior Fiction?

To be called Senior fiction, a story must have the following attributes:

1. At least one of the main characters, protagonist or antagonist, must be 55 years old or older.

2. Storyline must actively include the Senior. That's what main character means, but just to be clear. Having the person in the story just for the sake of them being there does not apply.

3. Some story element must deal with the effect of aging on a person's life, even if it's in reverse (i.e., Benjamin Button). The issue can effect the Senior or some other person (i.e., a caretaker or a loved one.)

4. All stories do not have to be heartbreaking and sincere. All the other genre rules apply for mixing, example romantic senior fiction, senior fiction fantasy. etc.

Warning!

Do not run off and query your favorite agent with this genre. It doesn't exist in the industry - just here. Anybody that wants to help push it along, I'll love you for it. Go to the links page and download a button.
